Before proceeding with remedies it is important to understand what caused these black spots. Without a proper diagnosis, a proper remedy cannot be advised. So, it will best if you consult a dermatologist, who can do a proper diagnosis and suggest appropriate remedial measures.

  • However, meanwhile, you can try out some of these common home remedies that are used for removing skin blemishes. Now, before using these home remedies, you should understand that these home remedies cannot completely remove the black spots. At best, they can help lighten the black spots and make them fade away a bit. And for that too you may need to use these remedies regularly for a considerable amount of time.

  • Use lemon juice: Lemon juice is very common natural bleach and is used to remove all types of skin blemishes. Use lemon juice directly on the black spots and leave it for about 15 minutes before washing off with water. You can also use a mixture of lemon juice, cucumber juice, and honey. As a replacement for lemon juice, you can also use apple cider vinegar.

  • Use onion and garlic juice: Onion and garlic juice is also known to help fade skin blemishes. Use a mixture of onion and garlic juice on the black spots and leave it for about 15 minutes. Since onion and garlic has strong smell, do remember to wash off your skin thoroughly after applying them.

  • Use sandalwood paste: Mix sandalwood powder with rose water, glycerin, and lemon juice to make a thick paste. Apply this paste on the black spots and leave until the paste dries up naturally. To remove the dried crusts of sandalwood paste, use cold water and wash off.

  • Use natural scrub: To remove the dead cells from your skin, you should use a natural scrub. A natural scrub can be prepared by mixing crushed orange peel with yogurt. You can also use Fuller’s earth paste as a scrub. To use a scrub effectively, you should apply the paste on your skin and leave it to dry naturally before washing it off with water.

  • Use vegetable slices: Another good remedy for removing black spots is to use freshly cut vegetable slices. Take freshly cut (preferably chilled) slices of cucumber, potato, or tomato and use them to rub on the black spots.

  • Use aloe vera gel: Aloe vera gel is a natural cleanser and you can use it regularly to wash your face.

Alternative remedies for facial spots
In order to get rid of such spots as you are describing, it is essential to know what has caused them in the first place. Any unexplained dark spots you have on any part of your skin should be necessarily examined by a doctor. Do remember that these could be an indicator of serious skin problems like skin cancer in its formative stages. So, if you have had dark spots on your skin for more than a couple of weeks, you need to remember to pay adequate attention to them. Since you have not explained the cause for these spots in any way, we will assume that they are caused by excessive suntan or sunburn.

In such cases, it is always advisable to make it a point to apply sunscreen of a Sun Protection factor (SPF) of at least 30 before stepping out of the house. This will protect your skin from the harmful effect of the sun's rays. You should also try to get a facial done about once a month in order to smoothen out your skin tone. To begin with, you can get a facial twice a month. After your notice a difference, make it once a month. On a daily basis, you should cleanse your skin every night before going to bed. You can also apply aloe vera gel to your spots in order to get rid of them.
Facial black spots remedies
What exactly are these black spots on your face? If you do not know what is causing them, you should visit your doctor, as you will need to find out what is causing them in order to stop their development and possibly get rid of the ones that have already developed.

If the black spots you refer to are scars that have been left by pimples or some other infection, then unfortunately there is nothing much that you can do to get rid of them. Scars are extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get rid of completely. There is no known treatment to get rid of scars apart from surgery, which of course is needed only for severe scars. At the most, your scars will slowly fade over time, so you will just need to be patient. There is however no harm in trying some home remedies — vitamin E oil and aloe vera gel are helpful in treating most skin problems, so they help the scars to fade more quickly. In addition, avoid using any harsh products on your skin, as they will damage your skin further and slow the healing process. If you are still suffering from pimples, you should avoid scratching or plucking them, as this will cause infection and more black spots.

Pimples, whiteheads and blackheads are forms of acne. Acne is perhaps the most common among skin ailments that largely affect men and women alike within the age group of 12 to 24 years. Many people are of the opinion that the presence of pimples on the face, especially the cheeks and forehead could greatly affect their aesthetics. They therefore seek to break the pimple as soon as it appears on the face.

Pores of the skin are blocked by accumulation of dirt, sweat and oil secretions. Such secretions lead to white cysts known as whiteheads or cause blackheads when exposed to air. An infected blackhead or whitehead gives way to a pus filled pimple. These pimples are also known as pustules or papules and can cause severe inflammation of the affected area. As the sebum from within the sebaceous glands keeps collecting under the skin the pimple grows in size. There is a lot of debate about popping pimples and while some people believe that it is helpful others believe that it causes permanent scarring. To understand the arguments both for and against popping pimples, it is important to understand the stages of pimple formation. Sebum is produced in the sebaceous glands located in the lower layers of our skin. This sebum slowly rises through the pores of the skin and reaches the surface where it forms a very thin film of oil. This film acts as a barrier between the surface of the skin and the environment. In the first stage of pimple formation, a blockage of dead skin cells within the skin pore combines with the sebum to form a thick plug. At this time, you may not even notice that you have a pimple. The sebaceous gland continues to produce sebum and within a day or two a tiny pocket of sebum forms within your skin. Your skin has bacteria within it and this bacteria feeds on the sebum within your skin. Under normal circumstances their numbers are so small that they are of no consequence. However, when a pocket of sebum forms, the bacteria start to increase very rapidly as they have surplus nutrition. The skin around this inflamed area starts to thicken and soon a papule forms. Even if the blockage is cleared at this stage and the excess sebum removed from the inflamed skin pore, there is a hollow scar that remains. There are those who believe that popping pimples at the earliest stage will prevent the pocket of sebum from forming and this will allow the skin to heal without the formation of a hollow scar. This would mean that the blockage would need to be removed as soon as one notices it, and one of the only ways to do this is through popping pimples. However, there are many who disagree and claim that popping a pimple can damage the sensitive and delicate facial tissue and cause even more extensive damage as compare to the scarring caused by the pimple itself. You will need to consult your dermatologist or doctor on how to get rid of pimples by popping them and he/she will be able to advise you on methods of popping pimples and ways to prevent infection and scarring. Even if you decide to pop your pimples, make sure that you are very gentle and do not use excessive pressure as this could cause lasting scars. Pooping a pimple with a needle could cause blood to ooze out and is therefore dangerous and can also cause scarring that would be difficult to get rid of.

Pimples Symptoms

Pimples Common Symptoms

Some of the common symptoms associated with the eruption of a pimple are:

• Inflammation of Surrounding Areas: This is one of the most common symptoms of acne and as soon as you notice this, you should take appropriate steps. If you decide that popping pimples is the best method of treatment, you should pop it at this stage if possible. To allow the trapped sebum to come to the surface, it would be best to steam your face for at least 20 minutes or so as the steam will help to lubricate your pores and allow the sebum to be extracted. Do not use sharp implements to remove the blocked sebum but instead you can gently press down on either side of the pimple so as to force the blockage out. Make sure that you do not use your nails to do this or you can cause permanent damage.

Pimples Picture
• Tiny Cysts: By the time that a cyst has formed, you can be sure that there is quite a bit of sebum collected in the affected skin pore. In addition to popping pimples that have reached this stage, you can also resort to a simple pimple treatment to help to dissolve the sebum plug. Sebum is basically made up of fats and fats dissolve in acid. You can make a paste out of fuller’s earth and lemon juice or apple cider vinegar and apply this paste to the affected area. This is one of the most effective remedies for pimples as it helps to dissolve the blockage. You can also put a small amount of this paste on a cottonball and tape it in place for the night. It is not advisable to use this remedy if you have sensitive skin. You can then steam your face in the morning and then proceed with popping your pimple.

• Redness around the Protrusion: It is one of the most common symptoms of acne. If you have not yet treated your pimple, there are very high chances that you will suffer from scarring. If you have decided against popping pimples, it would be wise to use some alternate form of treatment. You can simply use a face pack regularly along with a deep cleaning mask to help clear out the blockage and get rid of your pimple.

• Pus filled Eruptions: It is the last stage of a pimple and in most cases the pimple will burst by itself. FI you want to speed this along without actually popping your pimple, you can apply a hot moist towel to the area. This will help to increase blood circulation to the area and will allow the pimple to come to the head quickly.

Morning sickness refers to symptoms of nausea and vomiting that are experienced by pregnant women. They can occur during any time of the day, but may be aggravated in the mornings. Morning sickness varies in intensity. The condition is known to occur in three quarters of women during the first trimester of pregnancy. Nausea and vomiting are experienced by nearly half of all pregnant women. The symptoms usually begin during the sixth week of pregnancy, but may even begin as early as the fourth week. The symptoms then tend to increase over the following month. Many women find that the symptoms subside and even disappear completely by the fourteenth week of pregnancy. But for others pregnancy symptoms may continue to act up for a lot longer. Bouts of morning sickness may also come and go sporadically through the pregnancy, with no particular pattern. The experience of morning sickness can leave you feeling fatigued, but there are ways to alleviate the symptoms.

Symptoms for Morning Sickness

The main symptoms of morning sickness include nausea, vomiting and tiredness. In addition many women also experience constipation, back pain, swelling of the breasts and darkening of the areola. Symptoms of morning sickness are not a cause for concern. They occur because the body is adjusting to the progressing pregnancy. It is a sort of defense mechanism which enables you to accept the changes taking place in your body. Each women adapts differently to pregnancy and hence morning sickness may occur in some women and may be completely absent in others. This too is not a cause for worry. There is no evidence that links lack of morning sickness with problems in pregnancy. In case there are still doubts regarding the matter, it is advisable to discuss it with your doctor.

Morning sickness is not likely to affect the baby in any way. Due to nausea and vomiting, many women lose their appetite and are not able to gain weight easily. If weight gain does not take place in the first trimester, it is not a cause for concern. However it is important that the body is not starved. Good hydration must also be ensured. In cases where nausea and vomiting is severe and continuous, there may be a risk of premature birth and low birth weight.

Causes for Morning Sickness

The exact cause of morning sickness is unknown, but it is likely to be due to a combination of factors. One possible cause of morning sickness is the increase in levels of the hormone, hCG or human chorionic gonadotropin. HCG levels increase quickly during the early stages of pregnancy and this is also the time when nausea is experienced. Women with higher hCG levels, owing to multiple pregnancies tend to suffer from increased nausea and vomiting. The hormone, estrogen, could also contribute to morning sickness as its levels increase rapidly in early pregnancy. Pregnant women tend to become sensitive to various odors, and exposure to particularly strong smells may trigger nausea. The changes that occur during early pregnancy lead to increased sensitivity of the gastrointestinal tract and this could be associated with symptoms of nausea. Findings from some studies and research suggest that some women are more prone to nausea and vomiting because of the manner in which they respond to stress.

Some pregnant women are more vulnerable to symptoms of nausea and vomiting due to certain factors. Women carrying twins or multiples experience a greater increase in hormonal levels and this could cause morning sickness to intensify. Women who have experienced nausea and vomiting in previous pregnancies are also likely to experience it in subsequent ones. The intake of birth control pills in the past does tend to cause nausea and vomiting in some women and these women may also experience the symptoms during pregnancy. This may have something to do with how they respond to rising estrogen levels. Women whose mothers or sisters experienced morning sickness are likely to be genetically predisposed to it. Symptoms of morning sickness may also occur in women who have a history of motion sickness.

Body odor and darkened underarms often occur together as both can be caused by the presence of certain types of bacteria. Sweat does not have any odor but bacteria that thrive on perspiration are the root cause of the problem. One of the most common types of bacteria responsible for dark underarms and an unpleasant odor is called Corynebacterium. This type of bacteria is generally found in the areas under the arms and around the groin and they metabolize sweat and sebum which results in the formation of odorous compounds that are responsible for the foul smell. Other Suggestions for Dark underarms

Use anti-fungal powder instead of anti-perspirants. Wear cotton clothes instead. Do not shave your underarms, instead wax them regularly. It will not only remove hair but also the dead skin.

It is important to exfoliate your skin on a regular basis. The underarms are moist and warm and this is what attracts bacteria. It is not our sweat that causes body odor but rather the bacteria that are present in this area. Bacteria thrive on dead skin cells and excess sebum and sweat and so it is important to shower regularly and pay attention to these problem areas. Exfoliation helps to get rid of dead skin cells and excess sweat on the surface of the skin. You can make your own exfoliation scrub to help reduce the risk of dark underarms. Grind a handful of unpolished rice so that it becomes a coarse powder. Place this rice flour along with a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a bowl and mix it thoroughly so that it forms a thick paste. Apply this paste to your underarms and massage it slowly into your skin. It would be best to do this after a warm shower as the dirt and dead skin cells will be sufficiently loosened. Allow the paste to remain on for a few minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water. Apple cider vinegar is a potent but gentle natural acid and will help to eliminate as well as prevent bacterial growth. You may use this scrub at least once a week and you could use a loofa on other days to prevent the darkening of the skin under your arms. A pumice stone is another great exfoliating agent and can be used on a regular basis as part of your daily hygiene routine. Exfoliation also helps to prevent blackheads, whiteheads, and ingrown hair. Ingrown hair under the arms can be especially painful if they are not treated on time. Ingrown hair under the arms is most common in those who shave their underarms. If for some reason you cannot wax your underarms and are forced to shave, make sure that you use a razor with a sharp blade and apply a small amount of antimicrobial cream to your underarms once you are done to prevent boils. Boils and ingrown hair would cause scars which will only add to the discoloration under your arms.

It is best to avoid hair removal creams completely as these creams contain harsh chemicals that are meant to literally melt your hair. These chemicals can also have an adverse effect on your skin and invariably cause darkening of the skin when used for extended periods. Unhealthy habits like smoking and drinking excessively have also been known to cause ulcers.

Skin with a bronze or darkened hue is highly coveted by men and women across the world, especially in the western world, with predominantly Caucasian fair skinned populations. People of all ages have been known to spend several hours in the sun or on the beach, just to achieve the perfect sun-tanned appearance. This is probably why the market is full of sun tan lotions, tanning parlors and other products or techniques that can help acquire an even and a natural tan. However, there are many other factors too that could cause your skin to become darker in color. Unfortunately, not a lot of people realize the difference between a suntan and a skin problem.

The cells of our skin contain a substance known as melanocytes, which produce melanin. It is the presence of melanin that gives the skin its color. A lack of melanin or low levels of it can cause your skin to appear pale, which is known as hypopigmentation. However, in case there is a high amount of melanin present in the skin, the skin gets a darker color, which is known as hyperpigmentation. Another factor that could cause your skin to darken faster than normal is overactive melanocytes. In case your skin begins to get dark because of hyperpigmentation, the discoloration usually begins at the knuckles, elbows as well as the knees and spreads to the other parts of the body from there. At times, you may also see bronze or darkened patches on the palms of your hands and the soles of your feet. The degree of discoloration could vary from person to person, based on the underlying causes.
Dark Skin Picture

The darkening of the skin may not necessarily be permanent at times. There are several conditions that could cause your skin to get darker for a certain period. For example, most women see changes in the tone of their skin during the course of pregnancy. However, after childbirth, the color of the skin usually returns to normal. Similarly, darkening of the skin because of hormonal imbalances or other short term conditions is also temporary. The color of the skin returns to normal once the condition is resolved.

Contrary to what many people believe, dark skin caused by hyperpigmentation is not exclusive to any specific race. People of all nationalities, living in just about any region could suffer from hyperpigmentation, which causes their skin to darken unevenly.

Fortunately, dark skin is not usually a symptom of a life-threatening health problem. However, in case there are other accompanying symptoms like fatigue, weakness, spells of depression or loss of appetite in addition to hyperpigmentation, it could be an indication of an underlying health condition that requires immediate medical attention.

Symptoms for Dark Skin

For many of us darkening of the skin doesn’t even raise an eyebrow, even though the darkening may be uneven. However, in most cases, darker skin caused by hyperpigmentation is uneven and appears in the form of dark patches on the joints, palms, soles and perhaps even the face. Some of the common symptoms of dark skin caused by hyperpigmentation include:

Uneven light brown or dark brown colored patches on the skin

Appearance of blemishes on the face and other parts of the skin

Differences in skin tone, mainly on the face, neck, throat, elbows and knees

In case your skin is naturally dark due to the presence of melanin then the symptoms may not be noticeable immediately. However, over a period of time, as the discoloration spreads or becomes darker, it is bound to become evident.

Unfortunately, darkening of the skin is not always indicative of hyperpigmentation; there are a few other skin conditions, such as lupus and rosacea too that could lead to a darkening of the skin. Therefore, it could be a bit of the challenge to diagnose the condition accurately, without seeking medical assistance. If darkening of the skin is caused by some other health problems then it is very likely that you will also notice some other symptoms like a rash, swelling, reddening, acne, tiredness and weakness along with the darkening of the skin. It is absolutely essential to consult a doctor in case you see accompanying symptoms like:

 Dizziness and fainting

Causes for Dark Skin

In most instances, darkening of the skin is fairly harmless and is not a major cause for concern. Some of the most common factors that have been known to lead to discoloration or darkening of the skin include:

Heredity factors, where the genes for darker skin are passed on from one generation to the other.

Over exposure to sun light for an extended period of time, especially in case of high sensitivity towards sun radiation

Malnutrition or the lack of vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients in the body

Hormonal changes in the body, that could be triggered by factors such as pregnancy or menopause

Use of certain medications, especially oral contraceptives that cause the darkened patches to appear in a typical butterfly pattern.

However, not all causes for dark skin are simple and minor. Some of the conditions that could lead to darkening of the skin may require immediate medical attention and treatment. Some of the more serious causes for darker skin include:

Addison’s disease, in which the adrenal glands do not produce the required amount of steroid hormones

Autoimmune diseases such as Lupus, where your immune system attacks the body’s tissues and organs

Hemochromatosis, a condition in which your body produces too much iron

 Intestinal disorders

Liver-related diseases and disorders, like cirrhosis

Remedies for Dark Skin

When it comes to treating dark skin or discolored patches on the skin, most health experts will advise you to first determine the factors that are causing the problem. In case your skin is producing too much melanin mainly due to simple factors like excess exposure to the sun, you may be advised to use simple home remedies to regain your original skin color. Given below are some of the most commonly recommended natural home remedies for dark skin:

Mix one teaspoon of milk powder, a teaspoon of lemon juice, a teaspoon of honey and half a teaspoon of almond oil, to make a thick paste. Apply this on to the skin and keep it on for around 15 to 20 minutes, before rinsing it off with cold water. This not only helps reduce the effects of tanning and skin blemishes, but also gives your skin a natural radiance

Add some plain oatmeal to unflavored yogurt and apply the mixture on to the affected skin. After around 20 minutes, wash the mixture off your skin with cold water. Some tomato juice could also be added to this mixture to increase its effectiveness

Potato has natural bleaching properties, which is why it is excellent for lightening patches and blemishes as well as darkened skin. Cut a potato into thin slices and place them on the affected area for 20 to 30 minutes.

Take a bowl of plain, unflavored yogurt and add a few grated dry orange peels to it. This paste is very effective in getting rid of a tan and should be kept on to the skin for at least 15 minutes, after application.

Mint works wonders in lightening the skin tone and therefore, the paste of freshly ground mint leaves should be applied on to the skin for around 15 to 20 minutes, before being rinsed off.

In addition to the remedies for dark skin mentioned above, you also need to get an adequate amount of sleep, rest and exercise a day, as they all play an important role in keeping your skin healthy. Unhealthy practices like smoking and the use of illegal drugs should be strictly avoided.

Diet for Dark Skin

Contrary to what many people believe, there are no miracle foods that will lighten your skin immediately or get rid of dark patches and blemishes overnight. However, if you’d like your skin to maintain a healthy glow, it is important for you to follow a balanced and nutritious diet at all times.

If you wish to have healthy and glowing skin your first concern should be your fluid intake, as you need to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. This will flush out the toxins from your body and at the same time will hydrate your skin internally, keeping it soft and supple. This reduces the possibility of discoloration, but does not rule it out completely.

Avoid eating any foods that are heavy, oily or spicy. These foods are difficult to digest and therefore build up the waste in the body, leading to many health problems that can also affect the skin. If you are trying to improve your skin tone, it is important to stay away from chocolates, caffeinated, aerated and alcoholic drinks.

Instead, increase your consumption of foods that are high in vitamins, minerals and other nutrients as they improve the health of your body, as well as your skin. Make sure that you eat a lot of fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meat, dairy products, nuts, seeds, whole grains, cereals, beans and legumes.

Suggestion for Dark Skin

Until a few years ago it was quite common to see people spend hours in the hot sun, just so that their skin could get the deep tan they so desired. However, in the last few years, people have realized that excessive exposure to the ultraviolet rays of the sun could lead to skin problems, like cancer. Therefore, it is important to exercise some amount of caution when trying to get a tan. There are several tanning booths and salons that have cropped up over the country that can help you to get the skin color you desire quite swiftly. If you do wish to tan your skin naturally through sun exposure, it would be wise to protect your skin adequately, with a good sunscreen solution. Many people tend to confuse sunscreen with a sunblock, but they are actually quite different. A sunblock will prevent your skin from getting darker, whereas a sunscreen will filter the harsh rays of the sun, allowing your skin to get tanned, while minimizing the risks of cancer and other similar skin conditions.

Moreover, in case you are taking oral contraceptives or any other medication that you believe could be the cause of skin discoloration, it is important for you to consult your doctor immediately. Your doctor may be able to suggest alternatives to the medication that you have been taking. However, it is imperative that you never make any changes to your prescribed medication (including their dosage), without getting a doctor’s approval first.

If you have a skin tone that is naturally dark, there is little you can do to lighten it. However, by keeping your skin clean and tending to it regularly, you can greatly improve the quality of your skin.
Sexual health can be a touchy subject, because there are many who are awkward about the subject. At the same time it is important that you do not neglect it. There are a variety of over-the-counter medications that can help to treat vaginal infections. If over the counter medications and home remedies for vaginal infections yield no results within a few days itself, it would be advisable to seek medical attention.

Symptoms for Vaginal Infections

The most common symptoms of vaginal infections are itching and burning in and around the vagina. Vaginal discharge is also likely to occur. Some amount of vaginal discharge occurs normally in women of childbearing age. The glands in the cervix produce a secretion which travels downwards and carries the bacteria and dead vaginal cells with it. This may cause the mucus secretion to become slightly white or yellowish in color. The quantity of mucus secretion from the cervical glands varies throughout the menstrual cycle depending upon the production of estrogen. Vaginal discharge may also occur during times of stress or sexual excitement. In such cases the discharge is likely to be a clear secretion. In case there is vaginal discharge of an abnormal color along with a foul odor and changes in texture and consistency, it could be indicative of a vaginal infection.

Vaginal infections caused by bacteria or bacterial vaginosis results in white or gray discharge that has a characteristic fishlike odor. The discharge can be noticed especially after sexual intercourse. There may also be itching or burning around the vagina. It is also possible for bacterial vaginosis to produce no symptoms at all.

Another type of vaginal infection is a yeast infection. Itching along with a thick whitish discharge are the most prominent symptoms of a yeast infection. Pain during urination and sexual intercourse may also be experienced. Yeast infection can affect men as well and results in itching on the penis. Trichomoniasis results in a greenish or gray vaginal discharge that also appears frothy in texture. There is likely to be itching, burning and irritation in and around the vagina. Strong odor from the discharge and discomfort during urination and intercourse may also occur. Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection and the symptoms are often noticed between 4 to 20 days after exposure.

A condition known as vulvodynia may result in stinging and rawness of the genitals without any infection. This condition must be treated differently from vaginal infections.

Causes for Vaginal Infections

The most common cause of vaginal infections is bacteria. Bacterial vaginosis develops when there is an imbalance in the levels of bacteria that are normally present in the vagina. Pregnant women and those who practice frequent douching may be at a higher risk of developing this infection. The use of intrauterine devices is also a risk factor. Multiple sexual partners or sexual relations with a new partner may also make a woman prone to bacterial vaginosis. Women who have never engaged in sexual intercourse are not likely to get affected. Bacterial vaginosis does not spread through swimming pools, bed linen or toilet seats.

Yeast infections are caused by the fungus known as candida albicans. It can spread to other areas of the body such as the skin and mucus membranes. In individuals with weakened immune systems, the infection could be life threatening. Yeast infections are extremely common and are not transmitted through sexual intercourse. They result when there is an excess growth of fungi in the vagina. Under normal circumstances fungal activity is kept in check by bacteria that are present, but when the balance is upset problems develop. The levels of bacteria may be affected by the intake of antibiotics. Fungal growth is likely to occur even during pregnancy or in women with diabetes. Other factors that could affect the balance of bacteria and fungi in the vagina include the use of birth control pills, use of steroids, diabetes, weak immunity, hormonal changes and use of perfumed feminine hygiene products. Fungal growth may be excessive even if there are scratches in the region. This can happen while inserting a tampon. Trichomoniasis is caused by a parasite that spreads through sexual intercourse.

Remedies for Vaginal Infections

The diagnosis of vaginal infections is usually made following analysis of vaginal cultures and urine tests. The treatment will depend upon the organism that is causing the problem. The treatment is also influenced by the type of vagintis, severity, duration and recurrence of the infection. Different types of medication may have to be prescribed for pregnant women.

Bacterial vaginosis is treated with antibiotic medications in the form of pills or topical applications. However it is possible for the infection to recur even after successful treatment. In such cases another course of antibiotic medication is then prescribed. There are also some home remedies that can help to alleviate the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis. The most important step when you deal with a vaginal infection is to ensure good hygiene. It is advisable to cleanse the area frequently using a mild soap. Take care not to allow the transfer of germs from the anal area while wiping. Also avoid wearing tight jeans as this could aggravate the condition. Cotton undergarments that are comfortable will allow for circulation, limiting an excessive buildup of moisture and heat. It is also necessary to wash undergarments properly to get rid of any buildup of germs. A good way to encourage healing of a bacterial infection is to wrap a clove of garlic in cheesecloth to form a small tampon. The cloth may be tied with un-waxed dental floss. Insert this into the vagina and let it remain overnight. This may be done once every day until the infection goes away. Apple cider vinegar is another popular natural remedy for vaginal infections. Combine a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with two cups of water and add a fresh clove of garlic. Allow the solution to stand for some time and then use it for douching. Capsules of boric acid can also be inserted into the vagina to relieve symptoms of infection. However there may be some amount of burning initially.

Doctors usually prescribe anti-fungal vaginal tablets or suppositories for yeast infections. This is because oral medications are known to result in certain side effects such as nausea, stomach pain and headaches. Oral medications are also not prescribed in case of pregnant women. A popular home remedy for yeast infections is to immerse a tampon in yogurt and insert it into the vagina. This may be done twice daily until the symptoms subside. The live cultures of lactobacilli present in natural yogurt help to correct the imbalance of bacteria and fungi in the vagina. Tea tree oil is also known to help in easing symptoms of itching and irritation caused by a yeast infection. Pour a few drops of the oil on a tampon and place it inside the vagina. You can also add a tablespoon of potassium sorbate to a cup of water and allow it to dissolve. Then insert a tampon and pour the solution in so that it is absorbed by the tampon. This may be repeated for several nights until the infection clears.

Since Trichomoniasis is sometimes confused with other sexually transmitted diseases or bacterial infections, a proper diagnosis is essential. Trichomoniasis is treated with antibiotics in the form of oral medications or topical applications. Individuals affected with this condition should refrain from having sexual relations until the treatment is complete and all the symptoms are gone. Natural cures for trichomoniasis include the intake of probiotics or ‘friendly’ bacteria which are contained in yogurt and fermented foods. These are known to fight the parasites that cause trichomoniasis. Herbal remedies for trichomoniasis include the use of Echinacea which has natural immunity boosting properties. It is also anti-microbial and anti-bacterial in nature. Goldenseal too helps in destroying the bacteria which cause infection. Garlic is a powerful anti-bacterial agent and helps to fight parasites. It may be added to food or consumed in the form of tablets. Milk thistle is another popular herb which is used widely for cleansing the body of toxins. Tea tree is also beneficial in trichomoniasis and may be applied to the vagina in diluted form. It is advisable to consult a doctor before using any herbal remedies.
